Garrett Clayton is an American actor who portrays Tanner in Teen Beach Movie and its sequel, Teen Beach 2.
Career[]
Garrett Clayton returns as Tanner in the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie Teen Beach 2. The handsome surf star of a classic teen beach movie Wet Side Story, Tanner miraculously transports himself, along with his girlfriend, Lela, into the present day high school where they surprise their newfound friends Mack and Brady. A multi-hyphenate (actor, singer, dancer, producer), his television credits include a recurring role on the hit ABC Family's The Fosters, a starring role opposite Ralph Macchio in the Lifetime movie Holiday Spin and guest-star roles on Disney Channel series Jessie and Shake It Up. On the big screen, his credits include the films Virginia, directed by Oscar-winner Dustin Lance Black, and Love, Gloria. In 2016, Clayton took on the lead role in the suspense drama Don't Hang Up.
Raised in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, Clayton performed in regional theater productions of High School Musical 2, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Peter Pan, and Beauty and the Beast. He has also appeared in numerous print ads and has modeled for companies, including Guess.
Personal Life[]
In 2018, Clayton publicly came out as gay when he stated that he had acted in the film Reach because he had been in a long-term relationship with a man, Blake Knight. A year later, he announced that they had gotten engaged.
